 On
the occasion of 18th anniversary of the
genocide, on February 25, 2010 there
was a presentation of the book “Khodjaly
genocide in the memory of communications
engineer” and at the same time the
opening ceremony of the book exhibition
“Khodjaly genocide-the tragedy of 20th
century” in Azerbaijan National Library.

 The opening ceremony of
the book exhibition related with
birthday of world famous composer,
well-known scientist-pedagogue,
coryphaeus of Azerbaijan and world
music Gara Garayev was held in
Azerbaijan National Library on
February 5, 2010.
There were demonstrated
books connected with composer’s life
and activities, his own works and
note writings.
The director of Azerbaijan
National library Kerim Tahirov
opened the ceremony and gave a talk
about his unexampled works. He noted
that Gara Garayev created the
synthesis of classic and modern
music.
At the end of the measure
there were sounded “Yeddi Gozel” and
“Leyli and Majnun”. |
There was held presentation of two-volume
book: “Formula Vlasti” by Michael Gusman
-the first assistant of the main director of
ITAR-TASS Information Agency, well-known
journalist and public man.
It was organized by Azerbaijan Republic
Culture and Tourism Ministry and Azerbaijan
National Library named after M.F.Akhundov
on January 25, 2010. The author also
took part in this presentation.

 There
was a book exhibition by name “20th
January-our bloodstained and
valiant history” dedicated to 20th
anniversary of
“20th January tragedy”
on January 19,2010 in Azerbaijan
National Library named after
M.F.Akhundov.
At the same time
there held the presentation of the
book “Martyrs. Bibliography”, which
was compiled by the workers of
Azerbaijan National Library.

 It was opened a large
exhibition devoted to the
memory of the great and
national leader Heydar
Aliyev at the National
Library named after
M.F.Akhundov on December
8. It was
demonstrated about 300 books,
periodical press materials
on life and creative
activities of the leader at
the exhibition.
The exhibition will last
for a week. |

 According to the
commentaries of Memorandum on
Cooperation between Azerbaijan
National Library named after
M.F.Akhundov and National Library of
Uzbekistan named after A.Navai, it
was sent 23 named books from
National Library of Uzbekistan named
after A.Navai to Azerbaijan National
Library named after M.F.Akhundov. 10
named books are in Russian, four are
in English and nine of them are in
Uzbek. |

 According
to the instruction of Mr.
Abulfaz Aliyev, the minister
of Culture and Tourism, as a
present for the libraries of
the region, villages where
Azerbaijanian live in
Georgia and training
institutions, Azerbaijan
National Library named after
M.F.Akhundov sent 3488 copy
books to the Embassy of
Azerbaijan in Georgia in
December.

It was held the presentation
ceremony of the book “Fikrat
Amirov: Bibliography” from the
edition of “Notable personalities
of Azerbaijan” composed by the
colleagues of the Azerbaijan
National Library named after
M.F.Akhundov on November 20.
Karim Tahirov the director of the
National Library opened the ceremony
and noticed that it was the first
composed bibliography reflecting all
time of the notable composer’s life
and creative activities.

was
held the
institution of annual
“National book Prize” at
the National Library on
November 3, at 1000.
Chingiz Abdullaev, the
secretar of Writers Union of
the Azerbaijan Republic and
the chairman of Pen-club,
Rustam Ibrahimbeyov, the
laureate of “Oscar” prize
and the chairman of
Film-making Union, Elchin
Shikhli, the chairman of
Journalists Union, film
director Ramis Fataliev,
writer Vagif Samadoglu and
others participated at
the ceremony. |

The
end of XX century is known as a period full of tragedies in the
history of Azerbaijan. Zengilan was also the victim of
betrayal as other regions of Azerbaijan.
It was
on October 30, 1993.In actual
situation the occupation was realized in 1992. In 1993 Armenians’
attacks became intensified.

With the Embassy of the Germany
Federative Republic in Azerbaijan,
it was held the opening of the
literature exhibition named “Lev
Nussimbaum, Asad bey,Kurban Said:
Who is the author of “Ali and Nino”
at the National Library on
October 30.

 John
Van Oudenaren, the representative of
Congress Library, director of
“World Digital Library” was on
official visit at the National
Library on October 20. The
aim of his coming to the library is
the researching of connecting
opportunities of the National
Library named after M.F.Akhundov to
“World Digital Library” network. The
guest walked at the library and was
very pleased with works. |

According to the holding of Culture
days of Morocco Kingdom in
Azerbaijan, it was held the
“Round table” with the
participation of Morocco and
Azerbaijan writers at the National
Library named after M.F.Akhundov on
October 17, at 1400.
Hassan Hami, the ambassador of
Morocco in Azerbaijan, Bensalem
Himmich the Culture minister of
Morocco, Najima Thaythay Rhozali the
former of Culture minister, Hassan
Najmi the director of the National
Library of Morocco and other Morocco
writers participated at the ceremony.
There were mutual thought exchanging,
interesting creative conversation
between V.Bahmanli the head of
Publish sector of Culture and
Tourism Ministry of Azerbaijan,
Ch.Alioglu the head of section of
Publish Sector, writer S.Babullaoglu,
publicist A.Jahangirov, National
Libraries colleagues, members of
Writers’ Union as F.Hajieva,
Kh.Ismayilova, S.Mammadli- and
Morocco writers in the “Round table”.
It was sounded interesting poems. |
It was demonstrated the large book
exhibition devoted to
“Independence day” of Azerbaijan
Republic at the National Library on
October 16. About 100 books
demonstrating at the exhibition were
very interesting for readers.
