Azerbaijan National Library
named after M.F.Akhundzade calls for
the readers, former workers and to
all citizens
Dear readers, former workers and
their relatives!
90 year anniversary of the
Azerbaijan National Library will
be widely celebrated this year.
Jubilee commission established
within National Library now is
engaged with founding of museum
reflecting the history of the
library - the treasury of the
national culture, keeper of millions
of books and other printed materials,
which are a national treasure of our
people. Therefore, we ask the
veterans who worked at various times
from 1923 to the present day,
relatives, family members of
deceased employees, readers,
libraries and all citizens to assist
us in collecting of their existing
materials.
We ask you to handle us various
documents related to our library,
orders, medals, certificate of
honour, library card, stationery
requirements (orders), photos, and
other materials.
This will allow us even more widely
to show the glorious history of the
National Library.
Interested people can call to the

advance for helping to create
the first museum in the Republic in
the field of library science.

On
the occasion of Novruz
holiday Azerbaijan National
Library named after
M.F.Akhundzade organized an
exhibition titled “Novruz in
our book memory” at the
National seaside park on
19th April 2013.
Variety
of books and photos related
to Novruz holiday find their
reflection in this
exhibition. Nearly 500 books
under “Publications of
Heydar Aliyev Foundation”,
“Azerbaijan folk
literature”, “Classics of
Azerbaijan literature”,
“Modern Azerbaijan
literature”, “Classics of
world literature”, “World
literature”, “World
children’s literature”,
“Dictionary and
encyclopaedias” “Nobel award
laureates”, “Literature
anthologies”, “Azerbaijan
language and history”,
“Modern world literature”,
“Publications of the
library”, “Publications of
the Ministry of culture and
Tourism”, “Republications”
titles were demonstrated
during exhibition.
Exhibition caused great
interest of people.

folklore” devoted nationwide
leader Heydar Aliyevs’ 90
year anniversary on 3rd
of April at 1300.

At Azerbaijan State Academic
Drama Theatre was held wide
jubilee ceremony devoted to
the remarkable actor,
producer and People’s
artist Hasanagha Turabov’s
75 year anniversary on
April 2, 2013.
At this ceremony exhibition
titled “Hasanagha Turabov –
75” was organized by
Azerbaijan National Library.
Books about author, quotes
about him, newspaper, and
magazine articles were
demonstrated at the
exhibition. |

National Library was opened
ceremony of the wide
exhibition titled “Khojali massacre – tragedy of XX century”
on February 20, 2013.

At
the Exhibition Hall of the National
Library was opened wide exhibition
devoted to the prominent composer of
XX century, public figure and
pedagogue, contemplator,
intellectual, learned musician and
publicist Gara Garayev’s 95
year anniversary on 2nd February,
2013.
Composer’s music pieces, books about
his life and creativity, quotes of
remarkable people about composer and
periodical press were demonstrated
to the coming guests. |

On 23rd of January, 2013
at the exhibition hall of the
National Library was opened wide
book exhibition devoted to the
famous producer, Honoured cultural
worker, People’s Artist Tofig
Kazimov’s 90 year anniversary.
Author’s books,
articles, quotes of famous people
about him, and works of separate
authors devoted to him, periodical
materials were demonstrated at the
exhibition. |

On January 16, 2013
at the exhibition hall of the
Azerbaijan National Library named
after M.F.Akhundzade was opened
exhibition named “20 January -
Bloody page of our history”
devoted to the 23 year anniversary
of 20 January tragedy.
Books, newspaper, magazine
materials and photos reflecting this
tragedy was collected in this
exhibition.
Exhibition will continue for one
week.

held opening ceremony of
exhibition named “12
December is Commemoration
Day” devoted to the
great leader of Azerbaijani
people Heydar Aliyev’s
memory on December 12,
2012.
Director of the library,
Karim Tahirov opened
ceremony. In his speech he
proudly talked about his
irreplaceable services to
our nation, about his rich
culture and about hard days
of Azerbaijan.
Ceremony participants were
introduced with book
exhibition including about
150 books in Azerbaijani,
Russian, English, Turkish
and Persian languages
reflecting great leader’s
whole life. |

philosopher and
playwright Mirza
Fatali Akhundzadeh
on November 26, 2012.
At the
ceremony also was held
presentation of the digital
data base and of the book
“Mirza Fatali
Akhundzadeh – 200”
published from
series of books
“Famous people of
Azerbaijan”.

National Azerbaijani Press
Hasan bay Zardabi’s 170 year
anniversary on 23
November, 2012. There
also was presentation of
digital data base “Hasan
bay Zardabi – 170” and
opening of wide book
exhibition reflecting Hasan
bay Zardabi’s life and
activity.

National Library was held
ceremony devoted to the
Fikret Amirov’s 90 year
anniversary with joint
afford of the Ministry of
Culture and Tourism of
Azerbaijan Republic on
November 22, 2012. Digital
data base “Fikret Amirov –
90” and wide book exhibition
was demonstrated at the
ceremony.

Director of Azerbaijan
National Library Karim
Tahirov participated at
the 63rd Frankfurt
International Book Fair
held in German Federal
Republic from October 10 to
14, 2012. Ministry of
Culture and Tourism, Heydar
Aliyev Fund also was taking
part at the exhibition and
stand of “Azerbaijan”
was 40m square. Books
published by Heydar Aliyev
Fund, Ministry of Culture
and Tourism, about 350 fancy
designed books represented
by Azerbaijan National
Library and 700 publication
products were demonstrated
at the exhibition. Our
exhibition caused great
interest of event
participants and gathered
lots of people round stand.

held within framework of

In Kishinev, capital of the
Moldavian Republic was held XXI
Kishinev International Book Fair
range of events devoted to the 180
year anniversary of National Library
of Moldova from August 30 to
September 4, 2012. Executive of
Ministry of Culture and Tourism of
Azerbaijan Faig Khudanli, deputy
director of Azerbaijan National
Library Melek Hajiyeva and leading
specialist of library Shahla
Hamidova were participating at these
events. |

his official visit to Prague,
director of the National
Library Kerim Tahirov
while getting acquainted
with the manuscripts in
arabic and persian languages
preserving in the collection
of the National Library of
Czech Republic have found
that they also keep valuable
manuscripts of calssic
Azerbaijani poets such as
Nizami Ganjavi, Muhammed
Fizuli, Khagani Shirvani,
Imadeddin Nesimi, Mehseti
Ganjavi and others belonging
to XVII-XVIII centuries.

on 12-17 July 2012.
Aim of the trip is to
implement practice exchange
according to the article of
the Memorandum signed

Slovakia and National
